Oh Crazy Iowa
I hope you all had a great weekend!! We sure did. Let me start with this…I really love living in Iowa. It’s so great to be close to family. I love having 4 seasons. I love the fact that we live in a city that’s not small but not too big. It is funny how living in Iowa makes going anywhere feel like we’re going on a vacation! I am definitely dreaming of walking the beach when I go to to Florida in 10 days! Even though Iowa is great, its weather can be crazy!! This weekend was a good example of that. Friday and Saturday were gorgeous days…highs were in the 50s and it was beautiful, yet windy. Saturday night the temperature drastically dropped to 4 degrees! What?! So cold! Then today it snowed and it was freezing with a high of 19 degrees!! Oh crazy Iowa! Here are some pictures of our weekend!
Troy had to sneak into this pic!
Troy said his job was to shovel the snow.
How cute are these lil’ boots?!
We turned our water table into a big sensory table! We just took the beans from our Valentine’s Sensory Tub and dumped them into the water table.
And then the snow came…and it was too late (or I was too cold) to rescue our sensory beans!
We also went to Bass Pro Shops! Definitely a favorite place for these little boys.
Think he’s ready for a 4-wheeler? Or maybe a 1st haircut?!
Troy got his 1st haircut by Daddy!! It was no easy feat…he has never been great at getting his hair cut. I tried to cut it when he was little and I didn’t get far so we started taking him to a professional. He would still cry, but it got the job done. Somehow, Lane talked Troy into letting him cut his hair. I think it was the bribe of a treat! I would’ve taken pictures of the actual event, but I was too busy taming the wild child and holding his head still! Lots of tears, but we made it! Here’s the before and after pic!
Sunday, we celebrated my sweet mother-in-law’s birthday! We thew a small surprise party for her and had a fabulous time. So thankful for her…she is so sweet, genuine, loving, and generous.
On a more serious note, I went to a funeral Saturday for a sweet lady. She was a mom of one of the homeschool families I supervise. She passed away from stage 4 breast cancer and left behind a husband and 3 kids (2 older kids and 1 is currently homeschooled). So sad to watch a family go through this. Please pray for the Newbern family as they grieve the loss of their mother. I can’t help but think about how short life is! The song, I Lift My Hands by Chris Tomlin has been going through my head all weekend. Below is a YouTube video of the song. I hope it encourages you today. Life is short, but we have so much hope when we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. My heart is so encouraged by that. So thankful for God’s grace and love.
Have a blessed day and I’ll see you back here tomorrow!
Amazing pictures for January….we have been so weather-spoiled the last two winters, haven’t we? I loved watching the soft snow falling yesterday, Ang. Thank you for last night…it was perfect and I am spoiled:). I love the song you shared in your blog…I will be praying for the Newberg family….I love you so much…
Thank you! It was so wonderful last night. I’m glad you had fun AND that you were surprised!! Wish I would’ve taken some pictures though. Love you!!
