I’ve heard from so many of you that you want lowercase alphabet formation rhymes after loving our uppercase alphabet formation rhymes! Well today, I’m excited to share that they are DONE and ready to share with you! I spent a lot of time creating and writing these rhymes to help you teach your kids how to write lowercase letters. My kids love them and I hope yours will, too!

What Are Lowercase Alphabet Formation Rhymes

This set of printables explains how to write the lowercase letters with a fun little rhyme. These printables could be used as posters around a room, tracing with a finger, or tracing with a writing utensil.

5 Creative Ways to Use Alphabet Formation Rhymes

There are so many fun things you can do with these rhymes! I like to put them in plastic sheet protectors, then put them in a binder, and have my kids practice tracing them with a dry erase marker. That way we can use them over and over again!

Here are a few more fun ways to use them that your students will love:

1. Make a Letter Rhyme Book – As children learn each letter, add it to their own alphabet book. They can practice the letter, decorate the page, and eventually have a complete book of all the letters and rhymes they’ve learned. (This is a personal favorite!)
2. Play “Guess My Letter” – Read a rhyme without showing the letter and have children guess which letter it describes. Then reveal the letter and practice forming it together.
3. Go on a Letter Hunt – Pick a letter and search for it around the classroom, house, in books, or even while out and about. When children find it, have them say the rhyme and trace the letter in the air.
4. Add Movement to the Rhymes – Use big arm or whole-body movements to act out the directions in each rhyme. Children can move down, across, around, or back up as they say the words.
5. Create a Letter Rhyme Wall  – Display each letter and its rhyme as children learn them. Children can refer back to the wall during writing activities whenever they need a reminder about how to form a letter.
