Week in Review
Another week down…and a busy one at that! Can I be completely honest with you? It was a hard week and I am very tired. I’m sure you’ve all had weeks like that, so I’m guessing you can relate. You see for the past 14 weeks, my husband has been away at training for his job. He’s home on the weekends, but it is hard to have him away during the week. I have felt like a single mom! A few weeks ago, he sprained his ankle, which has made the physical part of his job hard. He has pretty much recovered, but last Tuesday, he dislocated his shoulder during training! He had to go to the hospital and they put him under to get it all put back together. Now he has to go through physical therapy for a few weeks before he’ll be back to normal. Not a huge deal, but still inconvenient!
Yesterday, Troy woke up with an extremely tight neck yesterday and could not do anything. We took him to the chiropractor and doctor and they tested him for different things, but it ended up being a tight muscle. His ear also swelled up at night, which had me worried. It’s better today and I think he either got stung by a bee or he was allergic the ibuprofen I gave him. Today he is much better. And some good news–Wes’ EEG scan came back normal! I assumed it would, but it’s nice to know that there’s nothing crazy going on. Emotionally, I am drained. I feel discouraged with our house on the market and nothing really happening there. The one thing that has truly comforted me this week is God’s word and prayer. I’m clinging to this verse…
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29.
Thank you for letting me share what’s on my heart! I love sharing toddler and preschool activities with you all, but I want to be real with you and share whats going on in our life! So here are a few pictures from our week…
We celebrated out 6 year anniversary last Sunday! Think we look the same?!
Troy’s accomplishment this week…
He wrote his own name! He was determined this week. I love his excitement for learning!
Wesley’s accomplishment this week…
Going to the bathroom on the toilet! (Sorry–no picture of that!) This guy is a natural…he even went 2 times on the toilet in one day. We aren’t officially potty training right now, but he is very interested. Hooray!
A cute find this week…
After we did our activity with cacti this week, I found this cute little guy at Walgreens! The kids love it and it looks adorable on our desk.

Just thinking of you, some weeks are absolutely appalling but you all got through it and you are all still alive. I often think at the end of a terrible day/week etc that we are at least all in one piece if nothing else.
Thank you so very much, Gina! Your advice is so true. I appreciate you thinking about us!
Such a tough week. Or 14 weeks, it sounds like. I understand feeling like a single mom due to your husband’s work schedule. I also understand the dislocated shoulder. My husband did that years ago. I pray that it will heal quickly and correctly. I am praying that the next few weeks go smoothly for you. May you feel God’s peace and see His beauty in everything.
Oh, and prayers that the potty training takes off and is done quickly.
Yes it has been a tough 14 weeks! We’ve kept on a good schedule, but the end is the hardest! He is done next Friday, so we are all looking forward to that! Sorry to hear your husband has dislocated his shoulder, too. It will be fine, I’m sure, but just makes some of the tasks for his job harder. Thank you so much for your prayers and encouraging words!! Have a great weekend!
Thanks for your openness and honestly, Angela! I too had a very long week. Nothing super major but just long days. I will be praying for you as Lane is away. Love ya! <3
Thank you, Alison! I so appreciate your prayers. Sorry to hear you’ve had a long week!! I know how long days go…and you are so busy with all your little ones! Love you, too!
I’m sorry that you had a tough week. Just keep praying. Words of encouragement: Congrats with your son’s potty training (currently going at it with my 2 yo), I used donuts to jump start him into it after months of struggling, who knew that in 2 weeks he would be pretty much trained. I’ll pray for your family and you to emerge healthy and strong after a not-so normal week. Thank you for the wonderful blog, it’s my go to tool for my toddlers.
Thank you, Dena! That’s a great idea to use donuts…my son would love that! I appreciate your prayers and such kind words! Blessings to you!
