Bubble Wrap Fun

by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

Today’s play activity is very easy and it’s probably something you already have at your house…playing with bubble wrap! Before I start, please make sure your child is old enough to play with bubble wrap. If they are toddlers and still put things in their mouth, this would not be a good activity to try.

Keep Kids Busy with Bubble Wrap!

I rolled out bubble wrap on the floor. I let my preschooler explore the bubble wrap and have him try different ways to pop it! He jumped, rolled, crawled, and ran on it.

Then we decided to play with it another way. I wrapped bubble wrap around their feet using tape.

Then they jumped and hopped around! It really made the bubbles pop faster and louder!

We played a game where I said an animal and they would act it out. It was fun to see which one would make the bubble pop louder! And it was good practice for gross motor skills.

Here are the animals we acted out:

  • stomp like an elephant
  • jump like a kangaroo
  • gallop like a horse
  • waddle like a penguin
  • hop like a rabbit
  • stomp like a rhino
  • stand on one foot like a flamingo

We also did some exercises, like jumping jacks! I even tried it out and got a good workout in! 🙂

This was just a fun way to keep my kids busy. It’s nothing fancy, just an easy activity for kids.

We planned on trying bubble wrap stomp painting, but we ran out of time. We’ll have to try it another day! And if you are looking for more bubble wrap play ideas, check out this post.

This was day 18 of the 31 Days of Play series. To read all of the activities, visit here.
