100 Picture Books to Read This Summer

by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

Every summer I give the kids the challenge to read 100 picture books. The boys are so excited about this and love to mark off the books they read on our chart. Sometimes we need some new ideas for books, so today I thought I’d share 100 of my favorite picture books for summer! I’ve personally read through all these books and can recommend all of them! Hopefully you can get some new ideas for reading!

I found a wonderful summer picture book about a small boy who goes to the public pool with his Dad and his sister and wants to attempt a dive off the diving board. The Dad is very encouraging and supportive of the boy to use his courage to make the dive when he is ready. You must read “Jabari Jumps” to find out if he can use his skill and courage to make that dive. It is a wonderful read about a loving black family.
