Star Number Cards

by Angela Thayer 3 Comments

We are still studying the letter S, so today I thought I would share a hands-on, star counting activity. All you need for this activity is this printable and star stickers (I used Avery foil star labels).

Star Number Cards--with free printable! After you print out the cards (on card stock paper) and cut them apart, have your child take star stickers and place them in the spaces for the star. They don’t need to place them exactly on the space for the star, but close enough. Also have them practice counting the star stickers.

Star Number Cards

Have them make simple patterns with the colors. For example, with the number 8, I had my 3 year old do an AB pattern with the colors blue and gold. We also made rows or columns a certain color.

Star Number Cards --includes free printable I love how this very simple activity focuses on these concepts:

  • fine motor skills (using small stickers can be hard for little ones!)
  • counting numbers (1-12)
  • one-to-one correspondence (matching objects to a corresponding number)
  • patterns

Star Number Cards--with free printable After you’re done making the cards, bring them out every once in a while and have your child practice counting them. You could cover up the number so they don’t just read the number.

Have a great day!
