Q-Tip Painting for Uppercase Letters

There are so many fun ways to teach kids alphabet letters! One way to do it is with this Uppercase Letters Q-Tip Painting activity.

Q-Tip Letter Painting for Uppercase Letters

This free printable includes 26 pages for all the uppercase alphabet letters. Each page has an alphabet letter that can be filled in with Q-tip painting. At the bottom of each page, there are two pictures that begin with that letter. For the vowel letters, there is a picture for a long and short vowel sound (i.e: a is for ant and acorn)

For this activity, children will dip a Q-tip into paint and fill in the circles on the letter. You don’t need a lot of paint on the Q-tip and may have to dip it in the paint several times to finish the letter.

Any washable paint will work for this activity. We used the Cra-Z-Art washable kids’ paint and it was great. The small bottles made it great for dipping in Q-tips. You can also use an ink pad if you don’t have paint.

The printable does have color, but you can also print it in greyscale or black and white.

I recommend focusing on just one letter per day. Not only does this activity help kids with letter recognition, it’s also great for fine motor skills! When a child holds a Q-tip, they have to hold the small Q-tip in place and dab the paint in each circle. This is good for building those smaller muscles of the hand. It’s also great for hand-eye coordination! Working on fine motor skills will help with good handwriting when students learn to hold a pencil and write letters.

To download this free activity, just fill out the form below.

Remember…learning letters doesn’t always occur in a straight line from A to Z. Kids learn best from repeated exposure over time. It may only take 1 day for a child to learn letter A but 50 different exposures for another child.
