5 Must-Have Teaching Supplies

Before I became a teacher, I underestimated how much work teaching would be and how much of my own money I would spend on my classroom and students! Teachers put so much time, money, and love into teaching and they all deserve a pay raise! Now that I’m a homeschool mom, I am also putting in so much time and money into teaching my three boys.
Over the years, I’ve used various tools to make teaching easier.
Today I’m sharing my top five teaching supplies. Of course, you could buy lots of other supplies, but these are my must-haves!
Top 5 Teaching Supplies
#1 – Home Laminator
I have used my Scotch Thermal Laminator for over 7 years and it’s still working great! I use it to laminate any printables I want to use with dry-erase markers or other printed items that I want to be more durable, such as printable games. Having this in my home is a game-changer and saves me money! Even my husband used it the other day for work! 😉
The one I purchased in 2013 is no longer available, but the one that is most similar is this one.
#2 – Binding Machine
I know this one might surprise you, but I love my binding machine! I have used this so many times! It’s great for making journals, packets, small booklets, and even my handprint calendar. It is also super easy to use.
#3 – Pencil Sharpener
Investing in a good pencil sharpener is a must! I’ve gone through some pretty cheap pencil sharpeners and it’s so frustrating spending money on something that breaks! This Xacto pencil sharpener is great for home or the classroom!
#4 – Stapler
Getting a good, heavy-duty stapler is so helpful! I love this Swingline one because you can staple a lot of pages at once!
#5 – Paper Cutter
So many printables for early childhood require cutting! I love using this paper cutter to save time. It makes cutting a breeze!
Of course, there are many more supplies I could add to this list. These are just my top 5!
What is a must-have for you?
We loved having a paper cutter when our sons were growing up. It was more useful that I would have imagined. Now that we are caring for our granddaughter, we would love to get another.
I would love to have my own binding machine. We only have one for our whole district and it is in high demand!
A binding machine would make my life so much easier!
Thank you for the chance to win!
You are awesome for doing this giveaway. Teachers are always in need of supplies and it is nice to not have to spend our own money.
I wish teachers didn’t have to spend their own money. I’ve been there! I wish I could give all the teachers a huge gift card!
I would love to win one of these – would make my life easier in the classroom.
I would love to win a laminator. I teach pre k so we are always practicing name traces, alphabet letters, numbers using dry erase laminat. It wouild save me a lot of time if I could use a laminator for the many routine activities we do.
I would love to win the binding machine as we are always making letter and number books. We even take our photos and make an end of the year photo album for teachers and students in our class. We usually have to staple them so I would love to bind them together to make them last longer. All your gifts are amazing and would be used for many years to come. It is people like you who make us feel appreciated and loved. THANK YOU!
I love laminating things! Makes it so easy to clean and reuse curriculum.
Our laminator broke this past fall! I saw your recommendation for the Scotch one but ended up getting a different brand and now of course I regret it lol. I put the pencil sharpener-this exact one on our Christmas list a couple years ago and it has been the best!! Definitely going with your recommendations from now on!
I would love to win the laminator, as I am a school-based occupational therapist, who works in Early Intervention (SDC preschool), an elementary school, and an SDC life skills high school class. I laminate things such as activities, signs, and communication methods all the time.
