10 Autumn Songs for Preschoolers
Oh how I love this time of year! There are so many fun activities to do with little ones during the autumn months. Today I’m sharing 10 Autumn songs for preschoolers that are wonderful to use in the classroom. Preschoolers love music and movement, so these songs and chants would be a perfect addition to a homeschool day or classroom.
Autumn Songs for Preschoolers
In this download, I share 10 songs you can sing with your students. You can print the PDF at the bottom of this post so you can reference the songs when you want to use them! It would also be wonderful to have them hanging in your classroom so students can reference them, too! They may not be able to read, but having pictures and a print-rich environment is great for learning!
I Love Apples!
This song is ALL about apples…which I love! It talks about the types of apples and their characteristics: sweet, tart, crunch, sour! The song is sung to the tune of You Are My Sunshine.
5 Little Pumpkins
This rhyme is a classic! You can find this one is picture books or my free printable booklet, too! I love how rhythmic this rhyme is and it’s great for counting to 5! Kids love this one!
Put Your Apple in the Air
This song is sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. You can have the children pretend to hold an apple while they follow the actions in this song. This one is fantastic for listening skills and incorporating some movement into your day!
Autumn
Autumn is a rhyme that talks about colored leaves falling to the ground. It is simple, but is a good one for movement and actions.
Apple Song
This apple song is sung to the tune of Have You Ever Seen a Lassie? It would be cute to do with pictures of apples!
Scarecrow, Scarecrow
For this rhyme, children will follow the directions and act like a scarecrow! This is another good one for listening skills and movement!
Picking Apples
Lastly, this rhyme is one kids can act out. They can pretend to reach up high to pick an apple from a tree!
How to Use These in the Classroom
You can use these songs during large group time or circle time. Here is how I recommend teaching young students these songs:
- Sing the song to the students so they can hear it first. If you don’t know the tune of the song, make sure to look it up on YouTube ahead of time.
- Invite the students to sing along with you. Preschoolers may not get the lyrics or melody right away, so be patient. Create a positive and encouraging atmosphere to boost their confidence.
- Practice these songs many times! Repetition is key for preschoolers. Sing the song multiple times during the session or over several days until they become familiar with it. Repetition helps reinforce learning.
- Have fun with the songs! The more fun you have, the more inviting it will be for your students!

Thanks for great ideas to use with toddlers at our library! A grammatical error I saw – on APPLE (BINGO), it’s should be its, without the apostrophe (possessive, not a contraction).
Got it fixed. Thanks!!
I really like the apple version of the BINGO song. I sing it with a slap on the knees on the primary downbeat and a clap on the secondary downbeat, but I do all claps on the letters and all slaps on the “crunches”.
Btw, in your lyrics, “it’s” should be changed to “its”, as it is a possessive, not a contraction. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I’ll fix that typo, too!
Thank you so much for this article, I used “I love apples”, “five stuffed scarecrows” and “Autumn” in a intergenerational music session we had at the long term care facility I work at. The songs were both new and familiar which helped facilitate a shared experience rather than a performance. What a hit!
Thank you for your work
I’m so glad they were helpful to you! 🙂
I love these songs. On the song Ten Little Apples, the last sentence the word Three should that be Tree. I just want to make sure.
Oh thank you for pointing that out. It’s changed!
this may be out there somewhere cus nothing new really but I never heard it but made it up one day. BINGO song…kids name if 5 letters. for instances.. there was a girl who had a (fav toy) doll and Megan was her name O. M-E-G-A-N …..and megan was her name oh. I tuagh my 3 to spell her name like this.
These are fantastic!
There is a grammatical error on the Ten Little Apples song – the last word says “three” instead of “tree”.
Thanks for sharing these! 🙂
Thank you so much for telling me! Can’t believe I slipped up on that. I’ll be fixing it ASAP!

thank you

Thanks for sharing some great ideas to help my little learners start the day in a very special way!
Lots of cute things. Thanks for sharing some ideas with me.
I think that these songs are a prime example of how important preschool can be for children. It is nice to have an environment for learning while being surrounded by peers to help you grow. I can’t wait for my own kids to enter into preschool.
