Rudolph Wood Slice Ornament
If you’re looking for a cute and easy Christmas project for your kids, this Rudolph wood slice ornament craft is it! You only need a few items to make this craft and it looks adorable on a Christmas tree!
Supplies Needed
I saw wood slices while I was walking around Hobby Lobby and I knew they would be adorable for an ornament. Here’s what you need for this craft:
- wood slice (you can find these at most craft stores)
- brown pipe cleaners (for antlers)
- googly eyes (stickers work well!)
- Red pom-pom
- Twine or ribbon
- Glue (hot glue works best for durability)
Craft Directions
Follow these simple steps to make the ornament.
- Attach the Eyes and Nose
Start by gluing the googly eyes near the top center of the wood slice. Right below the eyes, add the red pom-pom to serve as Rudolph’s iconic red nose. Make sure to press firmly so everything stays in place. - Add the Antlers
Take the brown pipe cleaners and cut them into smaller pieces for the antlers. Twist the pieces together at the ends to create two antlers, then glue them to the back of the wood slice at the top. The pipe cleaners are easy to manipulate, so kids can bend and shape the antlers however they like! - Attach the Twine
Lastly, tie a loop of twine or ribbon through the hole in the wood slice for hanging. You might be able to find wood slices with twine already attached. - Let it Dry
Give the ornament some time to dry fully. Once it’s ready, it can be proudly displayed on a Christmas tree or used as a festive gift tag!
Additional Tips
This is a fantastic classroom or home craft. Set up a crafting station with pre-cut pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and pom-poms for easy access. You can even adapt this craft by using different colors of pom-poms for students who want to make their own versions of Rudolph!
