Importance of Classroom Supply Labels
Having your supplies labeled is a personal preference, but I do believe there are benefits to it.
- Labels help keep supplies organized and ensure that everything has its place. This makes it easier for both teachers and students to find what they need quickly.
- In a busy classroom, having labeled supplies speeds up transitions between activities. Students can grab what they need without wasting time searching through unmarked items.
- For teachers, labeled supplies make it easier to keep track of what’s available and what needs replenishing.
Overall, labeling helps create a more orderly, respectful, and efficient learning environment.
Supply Labels
In my set of ready-to-go classroom labels, I include the following classroom supplies:
- crayons
- scissors
- highlighters
- pencils
- markers
- glue sticks
- glue bottles
- erasers
- pens
- paper clips
- sticky notes
- colored pencils
- notebooks
- paper
- paintbrushes
- paint
Where to Put Labels
There’s a variety of places you can use supply labels.
- Containers, Baskets, or Bins – You can label bins or boxes where supplies are stored. Just place the label on the outside so it’s clear to students what’s inside the container.
- Shelves – If supplies are placed on shelves, label the shelves themselves to show what should be kept there.
- Drawers – Label the fronts of drawers to identify the contents inside.
The ready-to-go labels I’m sharing today have two different sizes to choose from. You can use a square label (3.5 inches x 3.5 inches) or a rectangle label (1.5 inches by 4 inches.)
Tips for Using Labels
To make the most of your school supply labels, follow these tips!
- Print the labels on card stock paper and then laminate them. If you don’t laminate them, they will not hold up. This is my favorite home laminator!
- Make sure the surface where you’ll apply the label is clean and dry. Wipe off any dust, dirt, or grease to help the label stick properly.
- Use mounting putty to stick them to your bin, cabinet, drawer, or basket. If you don’t have mounting putty, you can use masking tape or something similar.
