Materials Needed
For this table, you will need the following:
- A sensory table or plastic bin
- Multi Color Fluff – I found mine at Hobby Lobby in the Easter section.
- Plastic eggs
- Alphabet
- Alphabet letters
How to Set it Up
Set up for this sensory table is so simple! All you do is open up the fluff packages and place them in your table or bin. I used 5 packages to fill our table.
You may want to spread the fluff out using your hands.
The fluff looks like cotton candy! It is very soft and remind me of fluff used when you make pillows.
Ideas for Play
I always like to make the table simple and allow the children to use their creativity to play with the table. I sometimes add in toys or materials to jumpstart their play.
For this table, I added in plastic eggs with alphabet letters. My goal was for them to expose them to letters to help with uppercase letter recognition. I love it when my preschoolers say, “That’s my letter!”
Here are more ways to play with this sensory idea:
- Talk about sensory attributes. Is it soft or rough? Is it heavy or light? What colors do you see? How do you like the feel of the fluff?
- Hide the eggs in the fluff and have the child find it!
- Stack the plastic eggs. See how high you can go before it falls over.
- Pull the fluff apart. This is great for fine motor practice. You can also try and stuff the fluff inside of an egg. Some of my students really liked this challenge!

Yes! You can keep it in a sealed bag.
Keep trying! They may not be interested at first. Try playing with them, but don’t force it. When I introduced this on a Monday, not too many of my students played with. By Thursday, they couldn’t get enough! I loved watching their creative minds get to work!
