It’s no secret that I LOVE handprint projects! We love to keep handprint projects we make because they are such sweet keepsakes! Today I have the perfect handprint craft for December! This joy handprint project is super easy to make and is a beautiful craft for Christmas!
Handprint Project Materials
For this project, you just need a few materials.
- washable paint
- paper
- paintbrushes
- cups for paint
I also love these No-Spill Paint Cups. The set from Lakeshore comes with 10 no-spill cups with lids.
These are a must-have when doing crafts with kids!
Seriously, these are a lifesaver when it comes to painting. No more worries about spilling paint!
The paintbrushes are also amazing! The bristles are so soft and they make the paint glide on paper. My kids really love these paintbrushes and have been using them a lot since we got them! They even coordinate with the No-Spill Paint Cups!
Joy Handprint Project Tutorial
If you’d like to make the joy handprint craft, just follow these simple steps!
- Print the printable onto card stock paper. There are several designs to choose from!
- Paint the child’s hand with green paint.
- Stamp it onto the paper in the middle of the J and Y. Make sure their fingers are touching so it looks like a tree!
4. After the green paint has dried, you can paint a star at the top of the handprint “tree.”
5. Then paint on ornaments. I had my child dip their finger in the paint and stamp it around the handprint tree. Lastly paint a brown tree trunk.
If you are making the project on tagboard, it will look something like this.

I love the handprint tree. We made ornaments using that idea.
I love LSL! I find so many things to help enrich my children’s learning! Just bought the Alphabots for my 3 yr old for Christmas. But I’d love to get more things to help with his budding math skills as well as his literary skill. I’d also love to get more art items for my daughters.
We love the Alphabots!!
Such a cute idea!
I love Lakeshore Learning and have several gifts purchased already with more to come!
I love all of their stuff, my wish list would be huge!!!

Any of their sensory materials would be wonderful!
