Mummy Toilet Paper Roll Craft
Halloween is just around the corner and I have an easy and adorable craft idea! This mummy toilet paper roll craft will have your kids excited about celebrating the fall season!
Materials Needed
Here’s what you need for this mummy craft:
- toilet paper roll
- white gauze or medical bandage rolls
- scissors
- glue
- googly eyes
Preparing the Activity
Before doing this activity, you will want to unroll a length of white gauze and cut it into strips. The length of the strips will depend on the size of your toilet paper roll, but aim for pieces around 18-24 inches long to start. You can have students do this part if they are a little older and can handle using scissors.
Directions
- Take one of the gauze strips and place a dot of glue at the starting point on the toilet paper roll. Press one end of the gauze strip onto the glue to secure it.
- Begin wrapping the gauze around the toilet paper roll, slightly overlapping each layer to cover the roll completely. Continue wrapping until you reach the end of the gauze strip.
- If needed, add another dot of glue to secure the end of the strip. Repeat with additional strips until the entire roll is covered.
- Choose the placement for the googly eyes.
- Place a small dot of glue on the gauze or back of each googly eye and press them onto the gauze-covered roll. Hold them in place for a few seconds to ensure they stick well.
- To make sure the gauze stays in place, add a few small dots of glue at various points around the roll, especially where the gauze ends meet. This will help prevent the gauze from unraveling.
Additional Tips
- For a more aged look, lightly dab the gauze with a tea bag dipped in water to give it a stained, ancient appearance. Allow it to dry before wrapping the roll.
- If using a hot glue gun, be cautious and supervise children during this step to avoid burns.
Enjoy creating these spooky mummies for Halloween decorations or as a fun craft activity with your kids!
