3 Ways to Stop Tantrums

Do you remember the last time you were feeling overwhelmed? Was it during dinner when your toddler didn’t want to eat the food you spent an hour making? Or when your car didn’t start after shoveling your driveway? How about that time when the babysitter canceled last minute and your night out was no more? How did you react? Did you scream? Did you stomp your feet? Did you fall on the floor waving your hands in the air while your kids looked at you puzzled? It is often puzzling when children … [Read more...]

Visual Routine Cards for Before and After School

by Angela Thayer 18 Comments

We start school this week, which means it's back to routines! It can be challenging getting back in the swing of things and can make for stressful mornings rushing out the door. In order to alleviate that, I decided to make visual routine cards for before and after school activities. These would be great to use with children in kindergarten up through 5th grade. In my free printable, I included simple activities that happen in a morning and afternoon routine, such as brushing teeth and making … [Read more...]

How I Got My Kids to Love Vegetables

by Angela Thayer 4 Comments

Everybody wants their kids to love vegetables, right?! I've never met a person that disagrees with that. Vegetables are packed with vitamins and nutrition and are so vital to our diet. But not every child loves vegetables. (Can I get an Amen?!) In fact, my kids certainly didn't LOVE vegetables...until now. My two oldest boys (ages 5 and 3) love vegetables. It's crazy. I feel like I'm living a mother's dream when I see my kids go to the fridge and get a handful of spinach for a snack. Or … [Read more...]

Filling Your Child’s Love Tank

by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

One night this past week, my husband and I were putting Troy to bed. We both said the same thing as we left the happy and content 3 year old: his love tank was filled. I mean, he usually does go to bed happy, but he was just unusually happy that night and didn't put up a fight to go to bed. We realized that we had spent considerable amount of time with him that day and that he was just feeling so loved and secure. It made me think about a few things this week and I want to share them with … [Read more...]

A Happy Heart

by Angela Thayer 6 Comments

Scripture is such an important part of our lives...it gives us hope, faith, wisdom and guidance. Lately, Troy's been having a hard time sharing with Wes and has a sour attitude when he has to. Since we've discussed the Bible with him and he knows a couple verses, I thought it would be good activity today to learn a new verse. This is the verse I chose: "A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit" -Proverbs 15:13 We talked about what makes him happy and what makes … [Read more...]
