Activities for Numbers 11-20
The numbers 11- 20 are tricky for kids to learn. In fact, my kids have both thought there was a number called “eleventeen”! I’ve had several requests to share some activities for numbers 11 through 20, so today I’m sharing a couple!
First up is the Number Spin. I created this from a toilet paper roll. I painted it orange with acrylc paint. Then I took a a piece of card stock paper and wrote the numbers 0-9 on it. I also drew lines in between the numbers (which you’ll see below.). After the toilet paper dried, I wrote a 1 on the roll.
Next, I taped the numbered paper around the toilet paper roll. I made it a little loose, so that it could spin around the roll.
The point of this activity is to practice naming the numbers 10-19. Simply rotate the white paper around the roll and have your child say the numbers. For some kids, this will be basic. For my kids, it worked well. It helped them learn the proper names of the numbers and in the right order.
You can have your child practice on their own, too!
If you want to make the activity harder, create other bands around the toilet paper roll with another number in the tens place value.
Another way to practice numbers 11-20, is with these activity sheets. The first thing on this printable is counting practice. There is a space to place gems or another manipulative on. Have your child count while putting the gem onto the space.
Then there is practice with writing the number. I laminated my sheets and used dry erase markers on them. That way we can use them again and again! There’s also a number line at the bottom of the sheet.

Thank you sharing such a great activity! Being a previous math teacher, this is a GREAT activity for one-to-one correspondence. I’m looking forward to using it with my toddler. He, too, also says “eleventeen”…as well as “fiveteen”. LOL
