Basic Slime Recipe

Servings: 1 slime

Equipment

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 spoon or spatula
  • 1 mat or cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Elmer's glue
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1.5-2 tablespoons contact solution
  • 3 drops food coloring

Instructions

  • Begin by pouring the 1/2 cup of glue into a bowl.
  • Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
  • Then add in the 3 tablespoons of water, one tablespoon at a time.
  • Stir in any food coloring or glitter. Make sure to only add a couple of drops of food coloring otherwise it may not turn out.
  • Pour in one tablespoon of the contact solution, while stirring. Look at the slime and see if it looks really sticky. If it does, add in another half tablespoon, while continuing to stir. You’ll start to see the slime form, but it will be pretty sticky.
  • Knead the slime until it’s a good consistency. I like to squirt a little contact solution onto my hands before kneading it. If it is really sticky, add in more contact solution. I don’t recommend adding a lot because it will make the slime less stretchy.
  • Store the slime in a closed container or bag.
