Last month we were at a Children’s Museum and my boys were obsessed with racing wooden boats down a soapy ramp. They could have been there for hours doing that one activity! After we came home, I brainstormed ways we could do a similar activity at home. I came up with something close and the boys LOVED it! I have a feeling we will be doing a lot of soap boat racing this summer! Here's what you need for the activity: rain gutter (we found ours at Lowes...and it is quite long. Just picture … [Read more...]

Penguin Sensory Sink
My kids love penguins! I'm not sure what it is about penguins, but they are naturally drawn to them. Their interest in penguins started after watching an episode of Elmo's World. Alphabet Game with Water Balloons
My kids love playing games, especially with water. As I was thinking of ways for my preschooler practice alphabet letter sounds, I came up with this game. We just picked 4 letters for this game, but you could do more. To prepare for the game, put each object and letter in separate balloons. To do … [Read more...]
5 Water Activities for Preschoolers
Water is the theme of our week as we learn about the letter W. With the weather being nice, we love doing water activities on our back deck. We did 5 science experiments with water. First, we did an estimation activity. I gave Troy a beaker of red water and a water dropper. I asked him to guess how many droppers it would take to fill the tiny beaker (which was 50mL). He guessed only 1 time. As you can tell, this was our first time doing anything with estimation. We tried one dropper and he … [Read more...]

Happy Monday! Our new letter of the week is 'W' and I've got some fun ideas to share with you! The weather is warming up, which means we'll be staying cool with water activities. My boys love water, so I thought centering W activities around water would be fun for them. To start out the week, we talked about what W sounds like. Then we opened our letter W alphabet box. I had him take out each item and tell me what they were. We listened for the /w/ sounds in each object. We also made our … [Read more...]
