I’m so excited to share some really Fun in the Sun activities! My kids love to spend time in the sunshine, so we planned some fun activities to enjoy together outdoors! A couple weeks ago I shared our ideas for a Fun in the Sun picnic. Today, I’m sharing all about our fun morning in the sun! (I’m also sharing about an exciting giveaway at the end, so don’t miss that!)
First up, we did a sunflower craft. Instead of using a paintbrush, we used a fork to create the flower. We just dipped the fork in the paint and then made a circle shape brushing the fork outwards. It was a very fun way to paint!
We used our fingerprint to make the brown center added in real seeds to the middle of the flower. Then we used a paintbrush to paint the stem and used the fork and green paint to make the grass. (We got our inspiration for this project from this sunflower craft.)
Next up, we did a sensory play activity using super soft play dough (for playing not eating, of course!)! This recipe just uses three ingredients (recipe found here).
The dough feels SO soft, that the boys couldn’t keep their hands from it! They played with it for close to an hour!
My kids love any activity that involves fizz! So I decided to do a science experiment with lemons. We found the experiment here.
We first squeezed two lemons to get the juice. That was great for fine motor practice! Then we added baking soda to the lemon juice.
It was so fun to watch it fizz up to the top!!
We added a few more ingredients to make it into lemonade. We tasted it, but the boys thought it was too bitter to drink! After all our activities, the boys worked up an appetite and were ready for a snack! We made these delicious Mini Lemon Cream “Pies” for our snack.
They were all smiles eating this snack!
This dish has lemon flavor JELL-O gelatin and vanilla flavor JELL-O pudding, which is a great combination. It tastes sweet with a little tang to it. The texture is light, yet creamy. The vanilla wafers were a nice addition to the dish to make it taste like a real pie.
It’s also a great recipe because it’s easy to make and doesn’t take a long time to prepare. I also love that kids can help make this snack! Spending time together in the kitchen with my kids is an awesome way to create meaningful memories.
These Mini Lemon Cream “Pies” are a great snack at home or even on-the-go! We loved this recipe and will be making it again soon! To make your own Mini Lemon Cream “Pies”, you can get the recipe here.
I am also thrilled to share with you a giveaway for a $100 Visa gift card! Just simply enter in the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win!

Thanks to JELL-O brand for allowing me to partner with them with this Fun in the Sun activity. We had a blast! If you try these activities at home with your little ones, I’d love to hear how it goes!
