Encouragement for the Homeschooling Mom
Welcome to a brand new school year! It is here...whether you're ready or not. Some of you have already started, and others will begin soon. We are just entering our second year of doing preschool at home. I love teaching them, but I confess that at times I wonder to myself if I am ready or even qualified to teach at them.(I know, I am a former teacher and I still think that!) I work with a lot of homeschool families in the state of Iowa as a supervising teacher. Almost all of my families have … [Read more...]
I’m an Imperfect Mom…
It's true...I'm such an imperfect mom. Seriously, if you could just jump through the screen and join me at my house for the day you would see how many times I fail!! So why am I talking about this? Well, today I'm joining the other bloggers at iHomeschool Network to discuss the imperfect homeschool. I think it's easy for me to look at other bloggers and see how awesome their life looks when I read their posts. It's easy to compare, be jealous, and not content in my life. Finding Gratitude Every Day
Happy Friday! Are you so glad the weekend is almost here? We sure are! This week has been good, but different as my husband started his new job. The next year for us will be a year of changes and transition. Change is good, but it also means being adaptable and that is not always easy. When schedules get … [Read more...]
Replacing Fear with Faith
Today I'm sharing what's been on my heart. I was nervous last time I shared about finding contentment, but was surprised to hear so many other women struggle with the same thing. Thank you to those who commented and encouraged my heart. Fear & Worry. I think it's very common for moms to worry. In fact, I think it's common for anyone to worry. There are so many things we can worry about: finances, relationships, jobs, school, health, success, pregnancy, the future, and the list goes on and … [Read more...]
Being Content
Today I'm taking a break from posting activities to share what's on my heart. I know I don't know many of you personally. My desire with this blog is to share with you ideas for your little ones, but I also want to share my heart and I want for you to get to know me better. So today, I'm starting to do that. Recently, I found myself stuck in the comparison trap. I was comparing my kids with other kids. Let me explain. We were at an event and I found myself comparing my boys to other kids. I … [Read more...]
Filling Your Child’s Love Tank
One night this past week, my husband and I were putting Troy to bed. We both said the same thing as we left the happy and content 3 year old: his love tank was filled. I mean, he usually does go to bed happy, but he was just unusually happy that night and didn't put up a fight to go to bed. We realized that we had spent considerable amount of time with him that day and that he was just feeling so loved and secure. It made me think about a few things this week and I want to share them with … [Read more...]
