Pretend Snow

by Angela Thayer 1 Comment

Hey everyone! So glad you're here because today's activity is F-U-N! It's a little bit of science mixed with sensory play! I bought some Insta-Snow from Amazon a little while ago and decided to bring it out to see if it really worked. I was a little skeptical at first...I mean could powder really turn into cold, fluffy snow? To my amazement, it really did! This means all my friends in the south can try this activity out! :) To begin, we put a container into the bath tub. I just wanted to make … [Read more...]

Flossing Activity for Preschoolers

by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

Do your kids floss? Or do they know the reason we floss? I decided to introduce my oldest to what flossing is when he was 3 years old. He was new to flossing, so this activity was a great hands-on activity for explaining it.       Materials for Flossing Activity: *construction paper (and I added some cardboard to the back) *egg carton *white paint *play dough *floss and toothpicks To start, cut apart an egg carton. Then paint some of them white. As … [Read more...]

An “Egg-cellent” Way to Learn About Teeth

by Angela Thayer 10 Comments

Did you know that February is National Children's Dental Health Month? This month is a great time to teach little ones the importance of taking care of their teeth! An important skill for dental health is learning how to properly brush teeth. When kids are little, they may wonder why it's important to brush their teeth. This activity is great for teaching this! This activity needs a little prep time. You will use hardboiled eggs, which will need to be prepared ahead of time. I suggest … [Read more...]

Felt Christmas Tree

by Angela Thayer Leave a Comment

I don't know about you, but I don't let my children decorate our Christmas tree. I think if I did, they would use the ornaments as balls and they would be smashed in the process. Plus, I kind of like my tree to look a certain way...you know what I mean?! I'm sure that will change someday :) So I decided to make a small felt tree for the kids to decorate themselves! The best part is that they can decorate it over and over again and they can be creative as they'd like! To prepare for this … [Read more...]

Christmas Imagination Box

by Angela Thayer Leave a Comment

Do you have a kid who loves imaginary play? Troy has been using imaginary play with trains, superheroes or his stuffed animals lately. Today's activity was inspired by something I pinned on Pinterest, but modified for our little stuffed animals. We created a Christmas imagination box. Here's what you'll need: *a large box *Christmas wrapping paper *bows *tape *Christmas lights To start, we took the box and taped down the open side. Then we I wrapped it with wrapping … [Read more...]

Interactive Spider’s Web

by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

With Halloween coming up, I thought we would try making an interactive spider's web at home. It was a huge hit! The boys loved the activity, so I thought I would share it with you! Here's what you'll need: *chairs *rope *fake spiders (optional) All you do is take rope and tie it to the rungs on chairs and weave it back and forth between the chairs. Keep it low to the ground. The kids loved crawling under or jumping over the rope.  It's great for working on some gross motor skills, like … [Read more...]

Surprise Pumpkin Story!

by Angela Thayer 4 Comments

Does your child love listening to stories? If so, you'll have to try this out. This activity helps your child practice their language and listening skills. In this activity, you'll be telling a story to your child, while cutting out a surprise pumpkin. I do suggest practicing this story before telling it to your child. :) Start with a orange colored piece of paper and fold it in half. Keep the folded part on the bottom. Then cut it out so it looks like this. (It's supposed to resemble a … [Read more...]
