by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

Today I am excited to share with you a fun game I created to teach my little ones all about flies. Since flies are the theme of the week, I wanted to come up with a unique and fun way to teach them about flies. My preschooler loves games, so I decided to make a simple game for him to play and learn at the same time! Here is a peak at The House Fly Game... For this game, you just need the game board (which you can download at the end of this post), dice, and little flies for players. To make … [Read more...]

We've been playing some fun games with these and today I'm excited to share 12 games with you! 1. Shake and Roll Game For this game, just fill 5-10 plastic eggs with material from around the house. Letter Sound Matching Game

by Angela Thayer 9 Comments

I love Target! Every time I'm there, I browse their dollar section. Last week, I found some adorable foam eggs! I grabbed a few packs and I'm so glad I did because they were sold out a few days later! When I snagged these eggs, I thought they would make a great alphabet letter matching game, but I realized we've done a lot of matching games (like this one) and my son is working more on beginning letter sounds. So, I created a letter sound matching game for my 4-year-old. For this game, I put … [Read more...]

5 Ways to Keep Kids Busy in the Car

by Angela Thayer 8 Comments

Riding in the car with little ones can be challenging, especially when you are taking a long trip! We went to the Omaha Zoo on Monday, which is only a two hour trip. To make the trip run smoother, I planned 5 activities to do with them in the car. I would say it was a success and they stayed busy in the car with hardly any whining or crying.  1. Create a race track.  To make this, paint a track with black paint on a box lid. Then paint some yellow lines in the middle of the track. Give … [Read more...]

Color Matching Game

by Angela Thayer 12 Comments

Today I'm sharing an easy activity for teaching colors. I was noticing the other day that my youngest (22 months) kept calling everything green. I know he's still young, but I thought I would just try an activity to introduce him to some colors. For this activity, I used a plastic tray (from The Dollar Tree), pom poms, 4 colored balls, paint swatches (from Menards). I taped the paint swatches down to each section. I knew my toddler would grab them and try to move them, so I was just being … [Read more...]

Alphabet Game with Water Balloons

by Angela Thayer 1 Comment

My kids love playing games, especially with water. As I was thinking of ways for my preschooler practice alphabet letter sounds, I came up with this game. For this game, all you need is water balloons (or regular balloons), alphabet letters (from games like Scrabble or Bananagrams), and small objects. I used a dinosaur, horse, cow and marble. We just picked 4 letters for this game, but you could do more. To prepare for the game, put each object and letter in separate balloons. To do … [Read more...]

Bowling Game for Kids {Using Coffee Creamer Bottles!}

by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

Glad you are here for day 3 of my series on upcycled crafts! Today I'm sharing how to upcycle a coffee creamer bottle into bowling pins. To get started, just take several old coffee creamer bottles and rinse them out. Then for fun, wrap colored tape around the bottle. I'm sure you could paint the bottles or wrap paper around it, too. I only had 3 empty bottles, but you could have as many as you'd like. I liked having 3 because it made this game simple for my little ones. I put a piece of … [Read more...]

Letter W & Alphabet Matching Game

by Angela Thayer 2 Comments

Happy Monday! Our new letter of the week is 'W' and I've got some fun ideas to share with you! The weather is warming up, which means we'll be staying cool with water activities.  My boys love water, so I thought centering W activities around water would be fun for them. To start out the week, we talked about what W sounds like. Then we opened our letter W alphabet box. I had him take out each item and tell me what they were. We listened for the /w/ sounds in each object. We also made our … [Read more...]
