  1. Angela, thank you for keeping it real. Your bathroom, kitchen, and living room may be a little messy, but so what? That’s what happens when a family LIVES in a home. The bathroom and kitchen are high traffic areas. It can’t be helped. Your kids are happy and that’s what really matters. At the end of the day, your time is better spent being with your family, not cleaning every 10 minutes.

Thanks!! I am glad you enjoyed reading this post. Motherhood is hard and I’ve gotta be real about it!

  2. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! this is sooo refreshing to see and read and once again be reminded that loving our littles is SO much more important than keeping a sparkling house!!! i often find myself sucking the joy out of my little guys’ fun by constantly nagging at them to stay clean, to keep the playroom clean, to do this…do that…. aaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! we are moms and we need to love and laugh and live 🙂 our time for a super clean house will come soon enough, when our little people are older and no longer wanting to cuddle… “moms can’t do it all. period.” it was truly a breath of fresh air to read that statement!! once again, thank you 🙂

Oh I am so happy to read this. You are right–being present and playing with your kids is MUCH more important than a spotless house. 🙂

  3. A cluttered kitchen counter is also a pet peeve of mine! I only clear it when it is time to cook supper though. Thankfully my hubby does the dishes every night so that I can start the day off with a clean counter!

And you are totally adorable in that first photo!

Well . . . I feel better now. Haha. I would love to tell you it gets better, but my kids are now 16, 19 and 21 and if I were to go through my house right now and snap photos, my house would look exactly like yours. 🙂 Actually, they clean up pretty well. I always made them, but but on weekends we are so busy that everything lands somewhere as we go in and out the door and that is where it stays until we all get back on track on Monday morning. It has always been that way but we love living life and it will all be there when we slow down. I wouldn’t have had it any other way and when your kids are grown, you won’t regret it. I hope you and an awesome Mother’s Day!

Thank you so incredibly much for this post (and congrats on your pregnancy!) I beat myself up daily for our chronically messy house. Due to the fact that I’m in extreme pain every day from the nerve disease I’ve mentioned before, and now my Army veteran husband has near blinding daily migraines, our house is a mess. All of the time. I feel guilty for the dirty dishes, toys on the floor, laundry washed but heaped into rubbermaid container. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for being real, and showing that all mamas who’s blogs I love (like yours!) don’t have magazine pretty houses all the time. You’ve made me feel better about not totally sucking as a mama. My girls are happy, so that makes me happy. They are also quick to destroy any cleaning that gets done, so it’s an uphill battle!
This post rocks, and as always I love your site. Happy, happy mother’s day to you! I hope it’s been lovely.

Motherhood is hard. And adding chronic pain on top of that I can only imagine is crazy-hard! You are doing a wonderful job as a mom. And please don’t think you ever suck at being a mama!!! We all have hard days and it’s easy to beat ourselves up. Just take it one day at a time, right?! 🙂

  6. Love it! Thank you for sharing! ! I feel better now, sometimes I wonder how all that bloggers mom do that? Thanks! Happy Mother’s day

    1. Angela Thayer says:

So glad to hear that, Dianalis! It is easy to think people have it all together by looking at their photos online. But most of the time, people post photos of the best parts of their day or house…but we’ve gotta be real sometimes!!

I love your blog for making me feel a little less like failing being a good mother every day.
Looking at your pictures is feeling understood.
    Thank you.

I wish you had a wonderful mother’s day.

Thanks so much, Melissa! Please believe this: YOU are the BEST mom for your kids. We all have days where we feel like we fail, but trust me…your kids think the world of you. 🙂
